This Week in Worship

“Lessons from Basketball”

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

–  Michael Jordan

What lessons can we learn about life from basketball – many! As a long-time basketball fan, I have come to realize that basketball (and other sports) can serve as a metaphor for life. Some of the most important life lessons can be understood. Join us on Sunday as we explore some of those lessons through the lens of a great team sport – and some of its best players and coaches.

Facilitated by: Joe Ayoub

Worship Assistant: Amy Kavadlo

Music: Liz Alvarez

Audio: Atticus and Sophie D’Allesandro

Worship Services are hybrid.

Join us in person or on Zoom.

Please see the zoom link below. Please log in at 9:20, to give some lead time for the service at 9:30. You will be muted, but you can communicate through the chat box. If you do not have zoom on your computer, please download it ahead of time. It is free.

Sunday’s offering will go to the service and ministry of First Parish.

Religious Exploration

The fall RE program starts September 18th and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

In order to do so, we need all children and youth who plan to participate to register by August 21st. The registration form can be found here.

Do you know someone who might be looking for a faith formation program for their children? We are welcoming new children and youth of any ages. In particular, our preschool and middle school programs currently do not have enough children to run. Please help us spread the word about these programs to your friends and neighbors! Class descriptions are included in the registration form and intersted families can contact Bridget at bridget@sitkoff.net for more information.

Worship Committee – SUMMER SERVICES

Here we are in the middle of summer, with six of our twelve lay led services behind us and six yet to come. I want to say thank you to the people who have planned and/or contributed to the services so far, which includes the people who have attended them. It is so supportive to the leaders of these services to look out at your receptive selves, either “in the room” or on screen. And I have to say, there has been so much variety in these services, so far, as there will be coming up. This really is a way we get to know each other and various things we care about. These Sunday morning gatherings really do bring us closer together.

Thanks, EVERYONE!

Penny Partridge
