“In the Flesh”

We are made of matter, and as Barbara Brown Taylor puts it “matter matters to God.” We are formed with bodies with which to experience the world, which carry our love and our longing. How do we respond in spiritually healthy ways to the un-loving messages our culture gives us about our bodies? This month we will explore themes of body image, our connection with animal nature (Blessing of the Animals), aging, sexuality, and death (Remembrance Sunday, November 3).

10:30am WORSHIP

Remembrance Sunday

Rev. Parisa Parsa

Music by Emma Jean Moultan and the Meetinghouse Choir

In many cultures, the end of October and the beginning of November is marked by events that celebrate and remember the transitions from life to death with Halloween, All Souls Day, All Saints Day, Dia de los Muertos, and Samhain. During this special service – similar to the Day of the Dead celebrations – a colorful altar of mementos dedicated to loved ones will be assembled. Anyone in the community who wishes to remember a loved one, particular those who have passed this year, is warmly invited to attend. Members, please invite friends who may wish to mark a loss.

Please bring a small dish of your loved one’s favorite food, flower, or any kind of memento of them to the Sanctuary.

Are you a parent of a teen who could use some extra support? Please contact Rev. Parisa to discuss some upcoming possibilities here at church. minister@fpmilton.org or 617-698-6329 x102

Bake SaleChildren’s Church Service Project

Sunday, November 24, 2014

After a lively and thoughtful discussion, the children who attended Children’s Church on October 6 voted to have a bake sale to raise money for the poor.  They are very enthusiastic about this gift they will give to the community.  The bake sale will be held during social hour on November 24.  Typical social hour fare will be lighter on that day, so please consider supporting the children in RE classes as they fulfill their service pledge.
