Children & Youth
We believe young people are not just the future—they are an essential part of our community here and now. In all our programs, children and teens are invited to explore big questions, discover spiritual practices, and build meaningful friendships. As we journey alongside them, we are all guided by the shared values of Unitarian Universalism—interdependence, pluralism, justice, transformation, generosity, and equity. Every time we gather, we seek to nurture our hearts, develop our minds, and inspire our spirits together through play, story, service and social justice.
What to Expect During the School Year (September – June)
- Sunday Morning Nursery for Ages 0-3 – All ages are always welcome in our worship services. For families who prefer it, we also offer a nurturing space just for our youngest children . Our nursery staff provide loving care in a dedicated room filled with age appropriate books, art, and toys—so little ones can play and explore together while parents recharge and reconnect to one another.
- Sunday Morning Religious Exploration Classes – Throughout the school year, we offer age-appropriate classes and activities designed to engage curiosity, creativity, and compassion… and that are fun! Classes are taught by dedicated, trained volunteers and each years offerings are dependent of the ages and number of children registered as well as our volunteers available to teach. Here are our general offerings:
- PreK – Kindergarten – Spirit Play – In this Montessori inspired program, children hear a story together and then choose ways to respond through art, play, and discussion. Story themes introduce children to Unitarian Universalist values and sources and, whenever possible, connect to the worship theme in the meetinghouse.
- 1st – 3rd Grade – Holidays and Holy Days – This class gives kids the opportunity to learn about how children around the world celebrate the holy in different ways, and invites them also to explore the values and sources of Unitarian Universalism. This kind of class can build empathy, curiosity, and cultural humility and is a great precursor to Crossing Paths. Also, we have lots of fun cooking tasty treats and playing together for each Holy day throughout the year!
- 4th – 6th Grades – Crossing Paths – An exploration of neighboring faiths in dialogue with Unitarian Universalism. In this class, students learn about world religions and Unitarian Universalist identity through hands-on activities and even some field trips to visit different places of worship and practice!
- 7th – 12th Grade
- Youth Events – We aim to offer events throughout the year for teens to get involved in fun and service based activities in ways that work with their busy schedules! Sign up for the church’s weekly newsletter to stay connected to our latest offerings!
- RE Assistants and Audio Techs – We also have opportunities for teens to work or volunteer as RE Assistants in our kids’s classes and as Audio Techs during service.
- Our Whole Lives (OWL) Class – OWL (Our Whole Lives) is a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education program supported & endorsed by the Unitarian Universalist Association. We believe, as they do, that honest and accurate information about sexuality can change lives. OWL helps dismantle stereotypes and assumptions, build self-acceptance and self-esteem, foster healthy relationships, support wise decision-making, and even save lives. We are currently gathering interest for OWL classes for both 7th–9th graders and 10th–12th graders.

Our Approach
We honor the diversity of spiritual paths and life experiences that families bring. Our goal is not to give children “the answers,” but to create a loving environment where they can explore, wonder, and grow—supported by caring mentors and peers.
