October Worship Theme – Spiritual Practices

Rev. LisaMinister
Rev. Lisa Ward

Last night I had the honor of attending a colleague’s “Institution”, which is the Episcopal equivalent of the UU Installation of ministers. Reverend Rachel Pettengill-Rasure is now Rector of the Church of Our Savior in East Milton. Rachel is a colleague both in MICA (Milton Interfaith Clergy Association) and as a fellow steering committee member of the Courageous Conversations on Racial Justice initiative in Milton. Interfaith engagement is uplifting for me. As a UU, dwelling in diversity and the discipline of shared vision by integrating many perspectives is the vibrant work of interdependence. The better we get at being multi-lingual in religious imagery, cultural understanding and community visioning, the closer we will come to manifesting world community.

I believe MICA practices that aspiration. Here is its mission which we drafted together last year:

“The Milton Interfaith Clergy Association cares about the spiritual life of all people in Milton. We strive to increase interfaith understanding. We build partnerships and connections between diverse faith communities, faith leaders, civic leaders, and organizations so that together we can better promote justice for all people. We gather in community to both bear witness to brokenness and celebrate all that is sacred in our midst.”

So may it be.
Amen.

Rev. Lisa
